Days Gone Dev Has A "Longer Term Plan"; Sony Bend Has No Plans To Downsize Following Release

The developer of Days Gone for the PS4, Bend Studio, has a "longer term program" following the release of the studio'due south biggest project to date.

Sony Curve'south studio director, Chris Reese, said as much in an interview with the Bend Bulletin recently.

Officially appear during Sony's E3 conference this year, Days Gone will be Bend Studio's biggest-budget projection and so far. The title has been in development since 2022, although the game entered total production only a year agone.

Sony has high expectations for Days Gone, and for Sony Bend, commercial success is vital. According to Reese, the studio has grown from about 45 people to 103 for Days Gone, and there's enough of work ahead of the game's release. Interesting to notation is that Bend Studio has no plans to cut downward on employees following the release of Days Gone, and according to the studio manager, the squad has "a longer term program".

Since the game's reveal, the extended gameplay demo has been watched over 2 million times:

Days Gone is an open-earth action game ready in the high-desert of the Pacific Northwest two years after a mysterious global pandemic has decimated the globe, killing most just transforming millions into mindless, feral creatures. Survivors alive in a world where resources are deficient, violence and murder are common and Freakers roam the wilderness.

Players confront this violent, new world every bit Deacon St. John, a bounty hunter, a Drifter who lives in the lawless wilderness outside the civilian encampments. Deacon survives past using skills learned before the world ended, riding for the Mongrels MC, an outlawed motorcycle gild, where violence and mayhem were office of the riding the open up road.

At the center of it all, [Bend] is an exploration of how whatever of us would react to these harsh weather condition, and exploration of loss, love, friendship, revenge and desperation – learning that surviving isn't living. For Deacon specially, it'southward a struggle to ensure that promise never dies.

We're pretty excited for Curve's open-world game, and are really curious to see what the Studio has lined upwardly later on Days Gone. The release date for Days Gone hasn't been announced yet, but nosotros'll update when we learn more.
